"Beta" version - Worth doing, or don't bother?

I say go for it while the idea is fresh in your mind. If you wait too long, you may lose the motivation for the idea or lose interest in it altogether. Do it now while you have the idea and the drive, and re-make it later if you feel you must.

BTW, I've seen some vids where, even though the video quality could use some work, the video itself is well done and I, personally, like it very much. So, I say: GO FOR IT!!

I do this all the time.

I find that if I *don't* make the video when the idea strikes, I often won't make it at all. However I don't have any problem re-making a video multiple times as my source footage improves or editing techniques get better.

A major plus is that version 2 always turns out much better than the first version because the urgency to just "get it done" is past and you can really tweak the final version so that it shines.

I think that since you don't have any other ideas, you should go ahead and make it. Also plan on doing a remake when the DVD comes out (or take that great leap into importing...) and releasing it publicly. Inspiration is part of the process, you don't want to loose it if you have really good ideas right now.

My take on quality is that a low-quality video makes me feel that it's lacking, even if it's a really great video concept- and footage-wise. I really like high quality stuff, I think it just makes the video achieve a more "professional" level.
