Not so much of an idea as need of help...
I am about to start a new amv and I was wondering if you guys know of any songs that are dark and action packed. I am basically doing the amv to a dark and action packed anime so I need a song to match. I have looked into:
"What about us lesbians? . . . Your gonna burn in hell of course!" - MXC
"Hey dont knock masturbation, its sex with someone I love!" -- Woody Allen
"Evil will always triumph 'cuz good is dumb!" - Dark Helmet

Try looking up Trans-Siberian Orchestra. They have some really good dark stuff. Heck, anyone who can make Christmas carols sound creepy has talent indeed

"Great. He can pick his teeth when he's done with us!" - Marina, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas
Current AMV: Somewhere On This Night

U2 - Sunday bloody sunday ... look into ANything from Union Underground? ... what type of music u looking for? and how dark? any examples that are considered close to what you want?
...the problem I see a lot is that many good amv makers think they suck, and many bad amv makers think they're good.

Try symphonic black metal. Dimmu Borgir is agressive, dark and most songs have a lot of musical difference 'it's not one roaring blast'. Song: Kings of the carnival creation. Same goes for the top of the genre, cradle of filth.
You might even wanna try Evergrey (don't confuse this with evergreen). Songs: the dark discovery, december 26th, damnation

Cradle of Filth top of the genre? Haha make me laugh...
@MAS:
Maybe these bands may be of help:
Betray My Secrets
Amorphis
Type O Negative (very dark but normally slow - look for exceptions)
Theatre of Tragedy (newer songs very action packed, but not as dark as the old ones)
In the Woods (maybe too slow for your purpose, but always worth a look)
Standard gothic metal - I don't list the bands since there are so many of them (and most of the songs sound very similar, so it may be easy to find a song one could use)
And how about Apocalyptica?

If you'd mention the anime you're using, I could probably be of more help. As just a general reccomendation, if you want real dark, real hard-hitting music, you might want to take a spin around either of Hypocrisy's last two CDs, _Into The Abyss_ and _Catch-22_. A lot of the time extreme metal rhythmics are simply unvideographable (what the hell are you going to do with a blastbeat?), but Hypocrisy sets up a very hardcore death metal sound on a rhythm groove that you can actually do something with.
Hypocrisy records on Nuclear Blast, which is distributed in the US by Century Media. You should be able to find them in any decent CD store, and perhaps in Best Buy or other more general outlets.

and oh yeah, check the sig. The Haunted might be a good choice as well.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.
