A few questions....

Post by Kegz(8487) » Thu Aug 01, 2002 12:15 pm

I was just wondering how all you people get your anime on your computers, because the only anime i can find on the internet is subtitled, and that looks bad. And because of that, I can only do FF videos right now, but I would like to do trigun videos. Any help would be greatly appreciated 8)

That more or less sums it up. That and you can, of course, rent DVDs from video stores -- it's a heck of a lot cheaper.

You can also use a capture card, but that's more trouble than it's worth (if you're just doing DVD capturing) -- you need a way to get the Macrovision signal out of there (or not have the capture card recognize the signal at all, and finding cards like that is extremely difficult). Unless you're planning to exploit the dark/light pattern for some sort of video (hey, that would be pretty cool, come to think of it...)

Erm. Just so that jbone won't jump on me for a technicality :P --

The capture card that you're planning to use must not fall prey to the gain-control madness that the Macrovisionized signal inflicts in many dumb old VCRs.

Why would I jump on you for something about that? I know hardly anything about capturing video...

I use to get most of my anime off of a fileshare, like Kazaa, or Napster, or Morrpheus (all but Kazaa are worthless now). But now I find myself not bothering to download until its either 600+ MB, because it just isn't worth watching anime unless its high quality. Thus is why I almost always buy the dvd or go and raid a vhs store. Its just so much more enjoyable when you can sit infront of a big tv and watch your moobies.

normaly it would be subbed but if u know what u r looking for and u know where to look, u can find dubbed footage. i found quite a bit on Direct Connect but i bet IRC would be a better place to look.
