You know, usually (and I do have one exception) I really try hard to ignore the lyrics entirely and use only the vocals as another instrument. I find that this frees up my clip selection and allows for more free range of ideas and feelings in a video, without making any real concrete observations or ideas apparent. That is to say, most of my videos are made so lyrically ambiguous that everyone ignores the lyrics. As a result I work much harder on achieving a feeling, or a sense of emotion in my pieces that isn't really necessarily attached to any character (and not even the plot) but rather it's attached to an image and to an action, independent of any other image, motion or sounds (for the most part). This does a couple of nice little things for me. I can now move in and out any clip I choose from any position because none of it is really required for any other clip to make sense/be effective. Also, this makes my videos almost entirely spoiler free, which isn't really all that big a deal, but hey, somebody will appreciate it somewhere. Finally, it (should) make my videos appreciable by even those with no prior knowledge of the plot and characters, amv, or even anime at all. I love brining in really ignorant (in terms of anime) friends and showing them my videos, because they can give me a true, unspoiled sense of weather or not the effect was achieved successfully. But back to the topic at hand, what I'm saying is that to limit a song or idea to a single perspective eliminates many very powerful and effective themes and possibilities.

Beats me what perspective I was going for in my first three vids. I mean, my first one was for gits and shiggles. My second might have been first person, third probably second person. For my next vid I'm making an SMJ video that I'm trying to show through the perspective of a maiden circuit, so that should be interesting to see how it turns out.
