First of all, KaZaa sucks for finding music. Use WinMX, or better yet, Amazon.com

Second, it's not that you shouldn't use metal, it's that you shouldn't use cliche crap metal. Godsmack is a definite step up from SOAD, though.

Maybe you could try Voodou or Nocturne. Sort of goth metal with female vox.

Yes, I realize I come off as an unrepentant rivet-head, but I don't think platEAU or Covenant are really what you're looking for, and I haven't really listened to metal for some time (when you grow up listening to Maiden and Priest, you find different things to listen to for pissing off Ma & Pa).

If you're having a hard time finding a metal song, maybe try another style. I was thinking of doing a D video to some kind of symphony with lots of violins and stuff (but not any of the pretty violin things...they can be pretty hardcore ya know) or maybe doing it to Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. But maybe you don't want that...

Try some RadioHead they usually have some good stuff...

Or even go for the techno. I once wanted a really hardcore song for a video...but I ended up using a techono song by Moby...

That sentence makes me think of Army Of Me, Pluto or Human Behaviour by Björk, but if you want something more rocky try Remain The Same or If You Have A Cross To Bear You May As Well Use It As A Crutch, both from the album Things To Make And Do by Moloko.

When I start thinking about vampires though, Bachelorette is the first thing that occurs to me. It’s not really rock or techno, just very gruesome and disturbing, and I suppose all the machine gun sounds help with the beats.

If I may make a sugestion why don't you try using a song from the Queen of The Dammned soundtrack. (movie sucked but the music was good) try one of these songs I'm sure youll find what you are looking for they have a good: story, emotion, beat, and feel. I was going to do a video with one of these songs but no time. Maybe latter.
