So . . . anybody heard of her?
If so, then why isn't there an AMV to Summertime? Why isn't there an AMV to Summertime? What do you listen to?
(if you are wondering why I am not making these AMVs, it is because I am poor. Hence, no equipment.)

I'd guess that a) nearly nobody here listens to music made before 1970, and very few listen to music made before 2001 - and b) songs with simple instrumentation are harder to make AMVs to. Not as much noodly flashy stuff going on to sync action to. "Summertime" is also uber-laid-back and slow, which is a challenge as well.If so, then why isn't there an AMV to Summertime? I'd also venture a guess that there are few anime whose atmosphere fits something bluesy, apart from Cowboy Bebop, which has been just done to death and beyond.
The org sticks pretty closely to either nu-metal, hard techno, or indie whatever. You'd be hard-pressed to find too many vids that deviate from one of those three, apart from the odd artsy-metal person or two. (Personally, electropop, whiny Brit-rock/80s alternative, and classic rock. But I digress.)What do you listen to?
No problem. Much better than begging for clips or buying HKs or other moronic things people do and make excuses for.(if you are wondering why I am not making these AMVs, it is because I am poor. Hence, no equipment.)
I for one (make that two, I guess) would love to see more vids made with older music. I'm not sure exactly why there's so little of it - maybe it's the average age of creators, maybe it's people wanting to use songs that no one has ever heard of and so have no preexisting attachments to or biases against. I'm not sure.
Sorry for stepping up on my soapbox - thanks for bringing up the topic. 8)

Re: hey You are showing Our age!
Psssh, screw that. Several respected AMVers are in their late 20s or 30s, at least. (I'm only 26 myself, which is "old" to many people, but still not old enough to have heard this music when it was new.)therhoda wrote:I mean it we who will remain nameless can not admit to janis with out revealing we Might hail from some time before the backstreet sluts were hits!
Besides, it doesn't matter how old you are; I like music (and books, and movies) made decades before I was born. People still love classical music that was made a hundred years ago.
Yeah, that could be fun too.I mean it no one has done it although i think if You went with something besides sumertime, You might have more luck what about anouther piece of my heart. You can't say there are not enough messed up love triangles in anime!

Take it!
On my list of Things To Do is a video to Joplin's "Piece of My Heart," featuring Asuka. Yeah, I know there are billions of Evangelion videos, but at least the music will be unique.
As I searched through vids the other day, I found that there are also super-few using country music. (A few Garth Brooks, but I haven't decided yet whether I can truly consider him "country.") One of these days I'll have to make a nifty vid using Willie Nelson or Loretta Lynn. ^_^
