Yes, it would be a library without all those things. I'd prefer that.

However, that would make a lot of good code obsolete -- and a bind() is a terrible thing to waste.
That would be the dream AMV creator's utopia.
That and anime dvd's free.
You forgot the hooch.

The constant bickering, complaining, and ego trips caused by the ops, top 10, and VCA are the things that balance out the AMV universe though.

There are days when I think some people won't be happy until a-m-v.org itself is shut down.

"It fostered to much antagonism..."

"Artists were making AMV's for the sake of competing against each other, not for their angsty art. Sell-outs!"

"a-m-v.org subconciously brings artists down by making the artist believe votes, opinions & praise validates their work. Art needs not validation!"

"A true AMV artist does not register his art at a-m-v.org. His act of creation he made for himself and the world, not for Opinions and VCA awards."

BLEH! :x

AMV's will always be a fun hobby for me. If I was dictator of The Org, I'd impose my iron-fisted rule upon all: The moment you register one angsty artsy AMV, thou shall be SMITE'ed by Phade, like a Bottle Fairy kicked through a fan.

Some of you may disagree with this... but there is no disagreement between us that cannot be resolved by your departure. ^_^

Hee... I'm feeling genki and bouncy in that oh so sad pasty Japanese wannabe way. Time to strap on the matty Neko ears and bite someone.

You forgot

"The .org is the center of an Axis of Evil. We must bring down its leader, Saddam Huphadein, in order to make the world safer for democracy!"

"The .org is hiding weapons of mass destruction! We must invade the colocation facility immediately!"

...and just to kill this thread dead, I'll Godwinize it:

"The .org is acting in cohort with neo-Nazis!"

Prizes can be declined by any creator who wins one.

Yeah, like that's going happen. :) The only people who might have declined a prize have already declined to enter.

For everyone else it will be: "Woo Hoo! I won! Where's my prize? Where's my prize?"

Not that I think that is all bad mind you.

I use to think the .org would be a much better place as a catalogued AMV library (as trythil mentioned) with a forum. I thought, "Perhaps there can be a sister site, for all those pesky awards/percentages/judgments on other people's work." That would make everything better! The .org would return to a state of rest!

Then prizes were introduced.
