Alright, this one should be for pros, (Rubyeye comes to mind with his awsome 8th MS Team vid), but using various BIG battle scenes from animes (pref. with lots of troops or foot soldiers), use the following song:
Klendathu Drop from the Starship Toopers soundtrack
(for better length and effect, start the song off at about 35 secs. into track 1, since track one is only 49 secs long and flows directly into track two, the above stated track)
This song has a very epic feel to it, and some one with good talent could come off making an incredible vid to this.
I await future developments........

Army scenes... I can imagine things like Gundam, but I'm not sure.
Epic... good.
AKIRA has some army scenes, with the Colonol and the coup, but what I immediately thought of was Now and Then, Here and There. There's an epic.
I think also Legend of Himiko has something with tanks and feudal Japan. Castle in the Sky has airships, etc. I hope that helps.

There is a scene in Escaflowne The Movie of a army attacking a village.
An ocean of dust and randomly strung together pieces of hydrogen, serving no purpose other than allowing all of us to continue in our misery, doomed to an enternity of petty squabbles and meaningless ego trips, until the whole thing one day explodes and starts the whole shebang all over again. - Chaos_Angel
