Evangelion gose with everything...
But, maybe: Ah! My Goddess, X, Haibane Renmei, maybe Escaflowne, possible even RahXephon or Gundam Wing...

Kenshin might go well with it since there is an equal balance of soft and hard parts in the song and the show likewise has a balance of both romance and action. Really, I'd say that using your imagination to draw unlikely inspiration from a particular series or movie probably would come out very well.

angel sanctuary would go great with it. though thier might not be enough scenes. if only the damn thing was more than 3 eppisodes. it could work

yeah, angel sanctuary would be cool for it. with setsuna and kurai and arachne, mainly
i believe they've also animated Wish by CLAMP, so that'd be cool.
Gundam Wing would also be good, especially because all the pilots are athiests (especially for Duo, cuz he's probably the one who fits it most.)
