I have an idea for an AMV, The anime: Hellsing
The song: Stained, price to play.

And by the way waht program is used to make AMV's and where can i get it?

Newer versions of Windows contain a program called Windows movie maker, or you can spring some cash and purchase Adobe Premiere from http://www.adobe.com

The guides will help you with the rest of your steps.

Also if you plan on making AMV with out doing it commercially (making money off of it with businesses) then you can get a student version.

Well my suggestion for you is to try Adobe Premier. You can also download it at: www.download.com and search for it as Premier. I really dont suggest you to use Movie Maker because it is very complicated and hard to use. I suggest you to start with Premier so you can get used to it. Well at least that is what I did.

Windows Movie Maker is the simplest video editing program with which I've ever had the pleasure (if that is the right word) of working.

One video track, one audio track.
No effects (I understand this was changed in WMM2).
No transitions other than cut and crossfade (ditto?).
No need to worry about frame rate, interlacing, resolution, or anything like that - WMM forces you into 29.97 fps and a 4:3 aspect ratio, by letterboxing if necessary.
It'll even cut up your source video for you.

Just drag and drop, tweak a little, and that's it.

From whence comes this alleged complication and difficulty of use?

Yeah WMM is very easy to use. (Unless you are my computer-illiterate friend with a screwy version). The new version does have transitions and more options as far as saving goes.

Then I guess Premiere must be impossible.

But that's just based on the occasional horror story I hear every now and then.

WMM2.0 is a very easy to use program. Just have to get used to crashing every 3 frames

(well, it's a definite good starter program. But you will get frustrated not being able to do certain things - exact timing for one)
