Its all about the pentiums baby! But seriously, THough i do not consider myself a pro just yet, This is what I use for AMV making:
My Current Computer for making AMVs:
Athlon 2400+ (1800Mhz) [Nforce2 Chipset], 512MB DDR 333 Corsair (the good stuff), Radeon All-in-wander 9800 Pro graphics, 120GB WD HD 8MB cache, 40GB Seagate HD, 8x DVD-Rom (yea i know ancient....),. 52x IDE CDR, 4x SCSI cdr.
Programs Used in my AMVs:
Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop CS, DVD Descriptor, DVD2AVI, AviSynth, Virtualdub, and winamp5 for sound track ripping.
Codecs used: Xvid, Mpeg2, Lame MP3, rarely Mpeg1.
And I still have issues with memory on large progjects or projects with alot of stuff going on at once. DOn;t even ask about all the problems I ran into with Angels Redemption.....

Okay, here's mine
P4E 2.4GHz (FSB800, Hyperthreading) on Asus P4C800-Deluxe i875-Board
2x256MB Infineon PC400 Dual Channel Memory
120GB Seagate ST3120026A and 80GB Samsung SP0804
ATI Radeon 7500
Sony DRU500A (connected to IDE), Yamaha CRW-F1S, Toshiba SD-M1401, Plextor PX40TSi, Iomega Zip100 connected to Adaptec 2940U2W
Actually only onboard sound but thinking about ST-Audio DSP24-Media7.1, ST-Audio DSP2000, E-Mu 1820 or Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS Platinum (specially thinking about the E-Mu - or more exactly dreaming of this expensive piece of fine technology)
And finally: Capturing my analog Videos with probably the best DV-Converter in the world, Canopus ADVC-300 and printing my DVDs with an Epson Stylus Photo R300 6-Color Single Ink Photo Printer
Software: Ulead Media Studio Pro 6.5 (waiting for 8.0 to upgrade) with Adorage Magic Effects Vol. 1 and 2, and Roxio VideoPack 5 for authoring (coming very soon Canopus ProCoder for MPEG-Encoding and coming not so soon but also soon DVD Lab Pro for Authoring)
