I can see where people would be reluctant to make comedy vids; comedy's basically hit-or-miss, and it relies so heavily on audience response that it can make you constantly second-guess your work. Even so, I've found that I like doing comedy from time to time, and my current project is a comedy. Can't promise that it'll turn out great, but I'll be giving it my best.

My last 2 videos were comedy, people are just ignorant of my awesomeness.

Actually, I take that back, Tornado Vasectomy is a parody, not comedy.

I'm sorry, I have a crappy sense of humor :|

Well, at least considering my latest experiences, it seems my jokes are funnier to me than others...
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Yes, tobin, but what makes something popular? Generally someone saw something they liked showed other people they all liked it.... and so forth. I hope you see my point... because I lost it somewhere in that sentence

Not a clue, but don't bother explaining it, if it's long I won't read it. :P

I'll use a hollywood example and make it very short and sweet so no one gets bored. Horror movies in hollywood for example, come in waves. There'll be a bunch of em come out around the same time period because one horror movie will be really fun to watch but then after the wave they'll be few and far between until the next popular wave. I see this as the case with dance videos now. They are very popular now due to the DDR projects and have brought great popularity to creators that have gave their hand at it. I'll use Koop as the prime example of the last sentence since everyone can relate to Euphoria. Dance videos will die out until another wave hits in my opinion as people will get tired of them. I mean if you really watch alot of the dance videos, there's not all that much to most of them. Maybe a different effect but for the most part they are the same. Flashy timing with little or no story. That's why I think they'll be in waves. Effects vid will come and go as more effects become easier to produce but a good story will never change.

I agree, I've noticed the same thing in movies and music as well. Dance vids are extremely popular right now due to all the multi-editor dance projects that have been coming out, but it's not like dance is shadowing the others, the rest of them are just not quite as popular right now. I'm not really sure what the next wave will be, but it couldn't be something horrible unless none of the talented editors jumped in on it, in which case it would have to be carried along by fan obsession to just seeing these things on screen, and as they see the videos of today (the ones they'd consider relics), they'd realize there are certain things worth improving, and guess what? We're back where we started-with a new wave of talented editors going through waves in terms of popular genres at the time.

My personal opinion is to do something so far removed from the mainstream and extreme in approach, whether by blending genres, anime/music, or just general editing that can mess with people's heads, that everyone would have to notice. My comedies tend to be dark, and very sadistic (there is a difference, just don't ask me what it is), so not many people even download my videos...*shameless plug* although How Not To Be Seen is approaching 600 downloads :D
