Not so.
Remember that at the most basic level, animation is only a series of still images played very quickly.
Photoshop, also has the ability to edit filmstrip files (essentially a vertical stack of frames [or two if you like interlaced] that you can work with individually.
Photoshop layer function is becomming more and more common as a caryover into DVD menu creation as well. You create your entire menu in photoshop, and assign each button to a layer. Additionally you can use photoshop layer function to create subtitles, and masking options used within a video sequence.

Now seriously , I'm using Premiere 6.5 , and I choose Premiere , because was the only software tht I heard it's good for AMV making and I was able to find arond here (Japan) , some other softwares wasn't available to buy wihtout making an order

In the past I've used a program called Movie Shaker (Sony Vaio) , that was horrible , because you can't edit a vid frame by frame , so , to make fast cuts with that program it's close to impossible , plus , that crap start to crash if you add more than 30 clips in the timeline

I'm totally satisfied with Premiere , because I can make vids exactly like the guidesare telling to do

i use flash because you can move everything around with the mouse, and add shapes, and masks. I also like that you can change the brightness, and the whole colour scheme of any object, along with the transparancy of an object. you can also use masks, and shape tweening to create cool cutouts of video... or if you want something smooth like a fade to black on the outter sides of a movie clip you can add a transparent gradient.
it's also very nice because you can add shapes and text with extreme ease. It's a great program to do ALL of the basics... to me it's like photoshop without the filters =P, but for movies!

Wow... that sounds a lot like Premiere.

ive heard alot of good things about it!... but when i tried it a while back i was having a hard time just trying to cut my video?!... but i guess i shall get some tutorials and learn =3... right now i know i can do almost everything with flash... but it's a bit time taking =P

Of course, there IS always <a href="http://www.gimp.org">The GIMP</a> for people who can't afford Photoshop or PSP... and guess what, it'll even take Photoshop's .PSD files.

After effects, avid, vegas, pinnacle, all have filter functions. I'm using vegas' filters right now and they're pretty great.

there is also PSP's (pain shop pro) trial version.
at least the trial version isnt crippled like many others, and best of all, its free. shhhhhh!

I used Paint shop Pro before. It wasn't bad, sept it had no layers (is that proper English there?). And no transpanrance. You can get it free if you buy some types of computer tablets! I almost got one! But I didn't. I just need more dough.
