You might as well accept it!

Post by Neko116 » Fri Jun 04, 2004 2:43 pm

I have to say, I have been a member for awhile now and I am ultimatly dissapointed with my fellow peers! We make videos and we download videos, but besides the general star ratings, we have no way of knowing what is wrong or right with our videos- why? because no one leaves opinions!!! It is really starting to piss me off!!! I mean shouldn't there be some rule or something that says for every 5 (or 10) local videos you download you must leave some sort of comment!!!!! honestly! How do we expect to start getting better videos from crappy creators if we don't tell them what they need to fix? Seriously! you might as well accept that most of us suck without help from our friends!

well i'm sorry but it is kinda sad that we let it happen. if people actually told others what was wrong then we would stop getting those low-quality, un-synked, linkin park amv's. or at least the majority of bad-creators would know to wait for some sort of inspiration before they just take a chunk of footage and put a raspy song to it.

You can always use the opinion exchange.

yeah but then you just get another person who is as bad as you and is desperate for opinions... most of the time. so you really get no where because they too don't know what they are doing

Um... who cares?

There are other ways of getting feedback.

you don't need ops to improve. you can view how other video and see how they are done and compair then to your own. what;s differnt? maybe i should cut more on heavy beats or use more fades on this type of tone. stuff like that. I've done that for 4+ years and even after that i don't get a lot of ops. probably giving more ops wont do much either. it all depends if you can take the critisim and have the motivation and effort to learn from your mistakes. so many times i've given ops and people ase dissappionted cause i gave them a "bad" one. You can tell someone what's wrong, but if they don't have the skills or the knowhow to fix it and learn from it, it's not going to do anything. i have too many people coming up to me asking me how to make an AMV. i say i can't. it's somethign that takes time and effort. you can't force people to make "good" videos. it takes time and effort. ops help, but you can't make people give you an op (or other people ops). you need to find other ways to learn.

I agree with pwolf on some points, but I agree with Neko116 on others.

There are just some things that need somebody else's point of view.

For example, I never really know how well my subtitles appear on other people's computers, or if the timing on them allows for enough time to read them (I can't judge, since I already know what the subs are saying and can therefore read them much faster).

If you don't want to use the op exchange, announce your new amvs. Announcing will bring you reviews most of the time, even if not ops.

But first, everyone should go and answer the ones they already have. As short as "Thanks" is enough, just write something. Don't answer them=don't deserve them.
