I don't think the RIAA would have anything good to say about it if you asked them. On the other hand, I think they're happy enough to say nothing at all, so let's not ask them. ^_^ I think at the moment the files are too big for them to care. That and you can't put a bunch of AVIs on your iPod. :wink:

As for legality, I'm pretty sure you need to _change_ the song in some substantial way for it to be considered a derivative work of the song. However, you might be able to reperform the song and use your performance legally. Although I'd recommend double checking the legal issues behind recording "covers" before you go and show it to the RIAA. :P

You know they aren't REALLY suing 12 year olds. In fact they aren't REALLY suing ANYBODY. Do you know how easy it is to bullshit a court case and parade it all over CNN these days? They're scare tactics boys and girls, now let's all use our heads and strive to be a lil less niave in the future.

Hell I'd even let em sue me if they wanted...if they paid me enough. `, )
