Just for clarification, are you talking about the banners here or animes like Love Hina, Ranma 1/2, etc? Running a joke into the ground seems to just go along with our hobby.Pie Row Maniac wrote:From my perspective, it's not whether we're taking this too seriously or over-analyzing, but rather seeing the same joke over and over and over and over and over and over.
over and over.
your opinion please...

I'm not seeking an apology, but it would be nice for others to understand my POV.Ari-chan wrote:...This was all my opinion by the way, I don't mind those banners to much, but you do make somewhat of a point so I'm sorry for being annoying and making no sense.
I frequent this site often. I do not make AMVs, but I do watch them. I arrive at the site and see a banner every time on every new page and there's been an increasing number of "leave an opinion" banners. It's obvious that it is curtious to leave an opinion. It's so obvious that there's no need to be reminded repeatedly. As Pie mentioned, what was once amusing is now worn out and I personally think it overbearing due to its repetition and slight brashnness.
as i mentioned to you before, if you use the banner contest as a forum then you must expect a response.*inverse* wrote: I made that banner for kicks, I didn't expect people to criticise it and rant on about how it's supposed to make you feel.
that's physically impossible*inverse* wrote:If it bothers you so much, don't look at it.
That's certainly true for nearly all of the banners.*inverse* wrote:Guys, these banners are just a fun thing members of the site make when their bored. It's silly to over-analyze and make big deals out of the little things that really don't matter in the long run.
read the thread in its entirety w/o bias I merely pointed out a disagreement and attempted to solve it. Who better than the extremety of one of the sides of that disagreement to have at this discussion?*inverse* wrote:And animal, please don't email me just because you post something you think I might care about. It's like saying "Hey look - I 'dissed' you, fight back!"- it's *kind* of pathetic, and I honestly don't need it.
If you think I've said something unfair then please point it out.

Here lies my primary point. Where is the insentive to post a worthwhile opinion or any opinion for an AMV?
The incentive to giving an opinion of an amv is Watching that AMV in the same way that a "watcher" will get sick of writing opinions a "maker" will get sick of making videos and it will happen much faster if he doesn't get any opinions at all worthwhile or not also future releases by this artist may have drastically improved with constructive criticism but without that help it may fall far short
as far as banners go they probably should be more positively displayed but for a positive reply you can't be as aggressive as you're being

I understand your point of view, however, I'd rather like to see the opinion as a form of the honor system. There are many types of people on a-m-v.org. Some that will only review AMVs they enjoyed and others who take the time to review those who need more work.
The star system seems like a more efficient way to get the *general* idea of how people took your video (seeing as how you can't have more then 10 videos that havnt been given a rating).
Provoking people to review with incentive is similar to having kids give a teacher the written statement that they mowed this persons lawn so they can get honors.
If you give incentive to give opinions, your going to get a lot of quick and worthless ones. *shrugs*
