Well, suit yourself.blonde_luck wrote:I don't really consider it a mistake really... My friends thought that it was plain stupid, because all AMV makers have their clips used at one time or another, no point of everybody fighting over it.
People jsut like being original, plus if you use uncompressed dvd streams you get a much better quality for your art.
But it's not up to me, thats your choice.

Working on it now.Scintilla wrote:I dare anyone to try to use clips from either of my last two videos (DV:UI and AEO:EB) and actually make it work...blonde_luck wrote:My friends thought that it was plain stupid, because all AMV makers have their clips used at one time or another, no point of everybody fighting over it.
What do I get? For winning the dare?

It should be frowned on..I myslef made a whole video from other vids before i had my dvd rom..Never posted them but it was just for fun and to see if i havd any skills before I got my dvd rom and got my own footage..
Thats what i think atleast 0_o ... ya thats abut it ^_^

Yep, rule number two, as well as -AMVfreak wrote:I would like to clear it up though, that I have used 5 AMVs to make this, not like I took one of your AMVs put in different music and called it my own.Wouldnt downloading AMVs then using them as your footage for your own AMV break rule:That is the way a-m-v.org is run, and there is nothing in the rules against using other people's clips.
2. Thou shalt not use downloaded video footage to make AMVs.
6. Thou shalt not put false information into the video catalog.
Claiming a video is yours when you reuse someone else's edits is making a 'false' claim. Saying the source is from an anime when it's really from an amv (where the original footage could have been changed from the way it was in the anime) is naming a false source for your footage.
8. Thou shalt enter only the videos you created.
Creating involves making edits. If you take an episode and put it to music, it does not qualify as an amv, and you haven't created anything - it would be removed if reported. Using someone else's edits is no different - you didn't do it, so you didn't create the video. Now, if you limit yourself to footage you *know* is replicated in the original anime, then you might slide on this one - so long as you didn't reproduce any cuts the other editor made.
9. Thou shalt not steal other video creator's ideas.
If you keep the order of clips - that were already changed by another creator so they differ from the order in the original anime - is stealing another creator's ideas. Direct violation there - unless you make absolute certain you change the order of every clip, or check the anime itself to be sure the order was there in the anime, and not a result of the original vid-maker's ideas.
10. Thou shalt not try to impersonate other video creators.
This doesn't seem to be the problem here since you didn't claim any one else's name - but when you reproduce edits by another creator and claim them as your own, you're claiming that you made them - in essence claiming that you are the original creator who made those edits. Again, so long as you don't use *any* edits, you slide on this one.
One might also toss up this rule -
7. There shalt be only one catalog entry per video.
If you use too much of a single video as your source, you're just reproducing a video. And if you enter it into the catelog, you're making an extra entry for a video that already existed. Depends on how much you focus on one creator's work - 5 amvs for a video is not much. An amv is an average of 4 minutes - an anime is hours long. The amount of reproduced footage from 5 videos of 4 minutes length...it's pretty obvious that you're just using other people's ideas, footage, edits, encoding, etc - only you're making a vague collage of their work instead of doing a reproduction for each of the 5 vids.
As for the "that's how a-m-v-org is run" claim...um...Not.
We may have people who enter non-anime vids into the catelog, but that doesn't mean it's a non-anime collection. It just means someone broke the rules. With as many creators as we have here, enforcing the rules is difficult. People have to report the offenders before they can be taken care of. There are only so many people in power running the place - so some rules aren't enforced as often as others. They are *still* rules. Just because someone else shoots people doesn't mean it's okay for you to do it - breaking a rule is breaking a rule. Don't try to discard blame by saying "well, they do it" - they just haven't received complaints yet. That doesn't mean they aren't breaking the rules.

The thing is, stealing AMVs is a crappity thing to do, Blonde_luck, and knowing other people that do it doesn't justify it. Maybe you should spread the word to them, that its not hard to at least DOWNLOAD anime, if you can't buy it or rip it form your DVDS, (you should be able to if you can download an AMV), and use that for your AMVs.
I consider AMVs to be a form of art as much as my paintings, anime comics, or someone elses' music...stealing and copying is a big no-no. People work hard on them, i am sure you can be creative enough to come up with good stuff on your own.
I appreciate that you have pleaded to have this video removed, but please try to be more considerate in the future, too.
