Agreed. It's illogical.

No, technically you can't. I believe listing non-anime videos, even if you don't upload them, will get you DQ'ed from the VCAs.
if they do that i think i would be screaming bullshit, just having something non-anime in your profile shouldn't DQ u from the VCA's as long as only an Anime video gets nominated imo, cuz imo makeing a video out of "American Animation" shouldnt DQ u from the VCA "JUST because it is in your profile" but then again i like all cartoons, american & japanese!!!!
well, you have to understand that a-m-v.org was created for one purpose... develop a databse for amvs. so editors can share and list their videos for other editors to look at and later get. as more and more members joined, they started to add non-anime videos (non-anime meaning anything that isn't generaly considered japanese animation: live action, american[or anyother country] animaition). Phade has never liked having these non-anime videos in the database (to my understanding) but he's been very generous and allowed them (and many other thing with this site. sometimes there just needs to be a compromise. he can't give into what everyone wants, it's his site, he can do whatever the fuck he wants to do with it!). So when the VCAs came along, the rule was added, you can't participate if you have non-anime videos.

Now, my view on the subject is split. I'm a big supporter of getting rid of non-anime videos from this site. i don't think they belong here as this is for anime only. BUT! there is a large number of very talented editors that have non-anime videos and arn't whilling to delete them to participate in a contest which is fine with me cause i think that says a lot. They care more about thier videos then about contests.

I thought there was a percentage rule ...if you used something like 80% anime and 20% non anime..it was ok to have it on the org...*hopes this is the case..or else her new vid will be pointless to finish  *

The rule is "predominantly anime footage", I believe. However that's interpreted.

Having a video with no anime in it is definitely out of the question.

Okay this is a question thats been on my mind for a bit. And from what I can gather from this post is that its okay to list a non japanases animation on this site, but it would have to be at a different website, were you can upload anime to this site?

I don't understand the question. Re-interpret it so that it can be understood, then we can answer it for you.
