any dragon ball z + any linkin park..

doesn't get any simpler than that.. but truly you should really try to come up with your own idea first.

I love the Beatles and love seeing Oldies on the AMV. One vid I've been trying to see done for a bit is Cowboy Bebop plus "Hey Bulldog" by the Beatles. Is it good for a noob? I dunno. Depends on you. Go with what you know. Let the anime speak to you. What does the music show you?

Anything involving Naruto totally rocks, as well as Yu Yu Hakusho, Yu-Gi-Oh,
Shaman King, Saiyuki, Get Backers, King of Bandit Jing, and SCryEd.

J-Pop and J-Rock music is totally awesome for any kind of vid, as well as the
music of Smash Mouth, Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Daft Punk, and Eiffel 65.

Yeah, you might get friendly with DDR music, that's fun to play with. The best way to prepare to learn how to make amvs, is the same way you prepare to make a painting or write a novel. Learn about amvs by watching a lot - never copy a style, but you'll learn a lot, get to know animes and music. Your first amv is usually a bit of practice that you're not always proud of a few amvs later, you get better with practice.
