I hate Star Ratings.

I find that no matter how good you think your vid is, a lot of other people arn't going to have the same opinion. If you can get your vid over 3, then you're doing well because that means that you've got a good chance that lots of people have actually rated it well. I'm happy that all my vids are over 3 (even if some are struggling to stay there), and I find that I really can't complain, especially since they're fansubbed, and they usually don't do any better than a 2-3. The only thing that makes me sad is that my only vid over a 4 is a Teen Titans vid, and wasn't supposed to be on the site. Argh...but my fault...

In any case, I find that I've NEVER given out a 1, even when I thought the vid was lousy. Call me a bleeding heart, but if anyone spends the time and effort it takes to make a vid (no matter HOW bad), then I need to give them at least SOME credit. I know I'd feel bad if I spent hours/days on a vid and had 1's given out. Normally I don't let ratings get to me like that but hey...give people a break; they ARE trying.

Hm. Got a little off-topic there. Basically, don't worry if your ratings are bad. Chances are, there's someone out there who really liked your vid, and even if it's just one person, that makes it all worthwhile. ^_^

now this isnt gonna sugarcoated either I haven't seen your videos so don't take this personally wong, but maybe the reason your sporting a 2.25 is because your still new and have a lot of work to do to get up to par with other peoples standards. Its a weird concept but just keep working at it.

I think people just tend to be more honest with star ratings. If I recall, I think well over half of the opinions are above 5, which might be people who can't figure out comparative values, but might just be due to people only rating the videos they like. If I like a video and I give it 5-10 on everything nobody thinks twice, but if I would give a video all 1-5, people will just think I'm being penile. So that up with which one ends is every rating (within tolerances) being either posted by a fan or a penis.

Now where this fits in is that it doesn't happen when you have to rate everything (with a ten video slack) and voting is private. I personally go with more of a bell curve (one is really only for videos that don't play correctly, aren't anime music videos, or are about the quality of pointing a webcam at my TV and using my headset mic for the sound (which is sadly more than I'd've guessed), five is for the videos I'd make a point of showing to even my non-anime-fan friends, two is bad, but plays properly, four is anything (besides fives) I keep, and three is average.), but a 20%*5 system would work fine too.

My scorecard:

5 = Two thumbs up 26
4 = Thumbs up 64
3 = Eeeegh 87
2 = Thumbs down 67
1 = Two thumbs down 72

Again, the ones are a bit out of the proverbial "whack" because of a lack of a 0 or - option for videos I would disqualify out of hand (which I realize is impractical due to abuse by would-be non-voters). I also have excellent luck with the suggestion query and previous thereto the all time top star scale. But your results may vary.

i love it when people take only one part of a sentence.....and ignore the build up to certain comments/phrases.

You will also see that in that same sentence, i said i get great reviews....BUT then i get shitty star ratings.

It has been explained that since an op is just about the vid, not if they liked it...i realize that the people that give me bad star ratings are just too stupid to know editing genius when they see it.

as for my vids sucking...*I* know they don't suck...so the rest can eat me.
