A fan. If someone thinks the vid is good, it's good. Good is an opinion.

Me, if it has characters I like, or a song I love (or both), or a theme that appeals to me dispite the unknown anime, I like it and it's a good video to me. I don't care how flawless a video is - if I don't want to watch it again, it's not a good video.

As long as you can count yourself a fan. ;p
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

It's all about constant style...
If your making a good video, make the same all the way
thourgh don't speed through large easy parts.. Make them
flow correctly with the rest of you AMV. Unless off course
your doing live and let die by guns and roses, where the beat
and style may change rapidly :)

AMV judging

Well, it's a lot easier to say what makes a video bad. Too many unnecessary effects is the most common mistake I think. There are a lot of good videos that just match scenes - with original timing - with the music, and do it well. It's like drill team; ever see them? They go very slowly and don't do much that's too flashy and fancy because it looks better and actually does take more thought. It's easy to hide a poor segue orc. behind a few zillion effects. Also, there's an old saying that casting is the most important part of directing. This goes here. You could do the best editing in the world and make it to DBZ or (a very bad AMV anime, that I thought was called...) Jin Roh, something quality-wise that looks like you pointed a webcam ar your TV and recorded via your phone at a concert, or use some musically poor performer, like Cake or most rap (My take on Lincoln Park: Yes it's overused; yes it *can* be done right), and the video would still be tripe. So all that negative stuff? Don't do that, and it'll be fine.

As long as you can count yourself a fan. ;p
But that would be cheating. :(

Who is it who had the sig about how a fanatic only needs one fan to justify himself? You have to get at least that one fan, or you can't be a justified fanatic. Unless you have split personalities and they happen to agree on the video. ;p

Ok, got it... Wait a sec what if they don't agree?
