According to my math then, converting from a DVD 720x480 resolution to display on a standard computer monitor I have to convert to a resolution of 720x438...hrm, no wonder people always look skinnier in my videos. :)

Ignore my bad math.

640x480 is more or less the way to go. :)

Thanks for all the help guys, it's been "enlightening".

I'm still not sure, i do think that 720x480 does seem ridiculously big, but 320x240 seems too small (it's just a gut feeling, even though every video i made is in it and it looks fine).

I think i'll go with what some of you mentioned, between 400-680 resolution in both width and height. The rip i made is fine, but i would just feel more comfortable with a smaller resolution, but to tell you the truth i watch all my AMV's in full screen and just move back the worse the quality, but i know the majority watch it in it's right size.

I guess i'll just decide once i finish editing. And now that i think about it, i have another big question that i would really appreciate answered.

I just got Premiere 6.5 as i said and have Premiere Pro 1-1.5 or the newest avaialble if i wish, i was just wondering, since i have been messing with the program i noticed one relevent detail that is missing, maybe. In WMM the audio has the sound wave at it makes things alot easier to make cuts for beats, but in premiere 6.5 there is no sound wave, its just the long line with the title of the song/clip on it.

Q: how do you make cuts in your clips for beats in premiere 6.5? Do you just simply listen to the song and pause/make the cut when you here the beat (also using the scroll frame feature to make it perfect?)

This method would make the cuts pretty precise but i would really like the sound wave thing there to help guide me, also for a premire newb can anyone suggest to me any plugins or updates?

SUMMARY: read bold question

Thanks again guys.

That should be fixable: Go into the options for the audio track and change the display mode to show the waveform instead of just the name.

Hmmm, the only thing i can find is when i drag the audio in i can right click and then i can get this:
> audio option > then basically no options to change to this
> timeline window options > then basically its just video options but it seemed like the right screen, but there is no option to change from title-music wave.

Any ideas??

I think it's just to the left of the actual audio track. At least it is if I'm thinking of the right thing. Can't remember, mine shows the waveform by default.
