Hi everyone...

I started a forum at http://anime-ktv.shihbang.com/forum

The idea behind it is to create anime music videos using music from anime, and to have people subtitle them karaoke style.

A lot of anime songs are really catchy and I know there are people out there who would like to sing along to them, but I've never found any karaoke videos for anime songs, so I decided to try this idea out and see where it goes.

If you're interested and know how to make AMVs and/or make karaoke subs, sign up at the forum and hopefully, the idea will take off.

P.S. I'm sorry about this shameless plug, but I really wanted to get the idea out there and see what people thought.

I think shihbang is proposing something difrent than this site.

From what I gathered you want a site to foster the creation of music videos specifically designed for karoke, like the intro song found at the beginning of many animes.

The problem is this post, and the forum it links to, are both too vauge. Are you talking a special format for karoke software or plain old video files. Would it be open to any source or would it just be the anime you took the song from? You seem to have a whole system set up to discuss and distribute these videos, but no real indication of what exactly you are looking for. Try explaining the concept in more depth.

Also, the reason you havn't seen many anime karoke videos is that it's really, really hard to sing along with a song in a foreign language.

Heh, don't even get me started on phonetics/phonology now

Yes, it does sound rather vague. Although there's certainly a few AMV's with anime songs to them around, and making them into what you're looking for could perhaps be as easy as compiling an .ssa file and using the subs externally...

Just realize that a reason it mite not work to have americans doing karaoke in Japanese is the complete failure of the reverse that can be find in Beck (which despite the terrible English is a great show).

Is THAT why nobody sings "Cruel Angel's Thesis" anymore at conventions? 'Cause the lyrics are too hard to sing? :)

I sang a lot of songs in different foreign languages when I was in high school - Latin, German, Hebrew, French. It's actually not that difficult to sing in a foreign language. I've sung "Hitori No Yoru" (from GTO) and "We Are" (from One Piece) at karaoke at conventions.... I know a good set of anime/J-pop songs by heart (most of it anyway), and I really don't have too many problems singing them (except for the weird singable "n" appearing in the weirdest places, and the particle "wo" pronounced literally)...
