Is there an unspoken rule not to use the opening song from a series to make a video? ^_^

It just seems there's already alot of emotions associated with the song, it's a bit of a waste if nobody ever uses it.

... No. I can't. It's just too easy.

It's not done all that often; I suppose part of the reason is because someone who's seen the anime from which the song is taken will always associate that opening sequence with that song.

But feel free to if you want to.

it's pretty uncommon as most amvs arn't done to japanese music... there are some video's ive seen that used songs from the opening of animes i like tho...

i had an idea 1-2 years ago using a song from the ending credits of anime

It's just a song; if someone has a problem with that they have to option of not watching it. Besides its your video for your own personal enjoyment, many people forget that.

X2, and I still plan on getting that done this year but I am using the full version of the song to a different show.

op/ed are parts of the anime, and often they are of the best parts of the anime. don't see why you shouldn't use them.

People that say your video is crap because you used Op/ed sequences are just jealous you think to use this good sequences before them

While I personally think it's a little lacking in creativity (kind of like using Final Fantasy music with a Final Fantasy video), there's certainly no "rule" against it, unspoken or not.

Well, I think it's not very original when you make an AMV to the opening of the Anime. But it's okay to make that, most opening songs are very beautiful.

Do you mean a song with the same series it's from, or a different series? I've seen several that take an op/ed song from one series and use a different anime entirely.

Assuming it's the same series - I don't see a problem with it; it would seem a lot like a trailer, which isn't a bad thing in my book. Not the most original thing going, but I'm sure you could make a decent video out of it anyway.

There is a downside in that people who have seen the show have probably heard the song ten million times, so it runs the same risks as using a song with a ton of radio play.
