That doesn't make it right. Your own signature is a nice allusion to that.leenarutogaara wrote:I think the site pretty much ignores the use of Naruto fansubs because the 2nd highest rated video on the site uses Naruto fansubs and I'm pretty sure some of the other high-rated videos do to.

Thank you, but to be honest, 2 of the 3 amvs I have on the site were made using fansubs. This is because I uploaded them back when I was an idiot and hadn't read the sight rules. I'm legit now.

I'm getting very techincal here, but I want to be sure. If I were to download fansubs or raw footage of anime I do in fact own (as in, the DVD's are sitting on my shelf not three feet from my computer) would I be permitted to use it? The footage on my computer could be considered backup, since I do indeed own the anime featured in it, but does a-m-v.org permit this? I don't want to cross any boundries if I can help it. I simply do not have any means of getting clips onto my computer without download entire episodes, movies, or OVA's and snipping them apart. My videocard does not have the necassary equipment to allow me to pull the footage directly off of my television.
So, is this allowed?

You're gonna want to look at this guide:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech/
Now, there is ALOT of information in this guide, so if you're just looking for step-by-step instructions, you gotta sift through some of that information. It's good information, but can seem a little much for someone starting out new.

Well, you can download AMVapp and use DVD Decrypter, then read this guide to learn how to rip.

I'd take care with that- I installed the AMVapp package and it completely fscked up my ffdShow. Plus my entire system seems a lot more crash-prone now than it was before, although I can't be sure AMVapp is responsible for that. Still, I'd recommend doing it- I consider it the price I pay to work.
Personally, I use Premiere 6.0, although I'm still trying to get my hands on a copy of Avid (then again, I'm actually an editor in real life) so I don't know anything about WMM. but if there's general AMV advice you're looking for (as opposed to just technical) I can help you there at least.
The most important thing to making a good AMV (in my opinion anyway) is to make sure you have a good idea. The idea is what will attract people to your work- I don't care how good your DBZ AMV is, I just couldn't care less about it. Most people with potential shouldn't be hard pressed to come up with at least one good, reasonably original idea, so make sure you put some thought into what will make an interesting AMV, rather than just taking your favourite anime and favourite song and running them into each other. Make sure the idea is within what you judge your capabilities to be and that you can spare the time to give it the treatment you think it deserves. Don't expect it to be a masterpiece first off (our first work, never released, was bloody awful) but get used to the system you're using and learn new things as you go along. You WILL get better, as long as you make sure you make a second AMV... and a third... and so on.
Technically, all I can say is use DVDs. Our first AMV was made with fansubs, but that was because of the rather lazy decision of our now-defunct third member and, as I said, we never released it. Our second "proper" AMV (our technical second AMV was a proper DVD remake of our first) was also done with fansubs (SaiKano) but we were so put off by how hard it was to clean up that we decided never to work with fansubs again. Besides, the footage quality was still pretty poor, so I was overjoyed to finally release the DVD version recently. It isn't that hard, but VicBond007 has produced an extremely useful guide on the topic (check the Guides section of the site) which will help anyone who isn't forced to use region 4 DVDs. Damn.
Anyway, have a good go. I think you have a great, serious-minded approach to Amving which promises some interesting results. You'll do fine.

well heres a clip made by me useing WMM its a brolly clip its here to show u that if mastered u can use WMM to make some cool effects like the 3D exploding cubes and the fadeDaeowan wrote:Good day. I have recently become interested in creating and submitting my own AMV to a-m-v.org and to do this I have nothing but Windows Movie Maker. I have heard that creating decent AMV's with this program is possible, since it has all the basic functions I require to do so. The debate here isn't whether or not I should be using WMM (since I'll be using it no matter what you say), it's the fact that I would like to get some pointers from those of you who have made these things before. I'd like tips, like the usual process you undergo before ever opening the program and editing video. I'd also like to hear from those of you who have used WMM and can share your experiences with it so I can be prepares. I hear it crashes a lot, for instance, so I will certainly be saving my work often.
Thank you in advance for responding to this thread. I deeply appreciate any sort of advice or suggestions the lot of you have. If you would like me to be more specific about something don't hesitate to ask. I seek clarity in your responses, so if I missed mentioning an important bit of information please ask.
Thanks again. Ja ne.

UMM... I don't think you can do that in WMM, unless I'm just stupid.killerwog corp wrote:well heres a clip made by me useing WMM its a brolly clip its here to show u that if mastered u can use WMM to make some cool effects like the 3D exploding cubes and the fadeDaeowan wrote:Good day.
