Is advertiseing necessary???

Post by Knowname » Wed Jul 27, 2005 11:43 am

I was parusing the star scale and it seems the 236 opinions that I have for my video from back with the carrot is like an all time high surpassed by only Whisper of the Beast! -wow- and I never advertise this sucker as well!! Also close to 2000 hits *blows fingernails*.

Anyway what the heck use is all this banner making, it's nonsense!

BTW anybody know why I'm not listed? I mean this things old... did I miss an option somewhere or something???

That one has 236 stars, not opinions.

236 stars would be a record ;p I WIN!! You can only have 1-5 stars.

17% of the videos on the site have more than 236 stars.

You can only have a rating from 1-5. The number that lies within that range is your star score, the average value itself. 236 is the number of times it has been star rated by users.

What are you talking about...

And what do you mean by 'advertising'?

There's a difference. One way is to announce, the other is to pimp. The difference is between passive and active. I rely on passive advertising, you seem to be doing the active type now (and rather shamelessly I might add).

Both work, provided cheap attention is what you want. I don't, however, believe that aggressive pimping gets you good-quality attention. Nor are stars and high marks an indication of high-quality attention.
So better to seek not quantity but quality. For me, passive advertisement works well enough for that purpose.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I just want to know why I (along with many others apparently) am not in that star scale. none of my other 'quality' videos are there either...

If you keep going through the pages of the star scale listings, eventually you will find your video.

236 star ratings isn't a lot, relatively speaking, so the Bayesian average system brings your adjusted star score closer to the global average; thus, unless it's got a really high raw average, it won't show up close to the top of the list.
