People who aren't willing to figure out how to make a program work like you want to shouldn't use it to start with. Personally, I've NEVER used Premiere. At all. I've tried, but I couldn't get it to install properly. Well, moving right along, I'll just this... I've never had timing problems with Vegas. Nor have I had quality problems, that's PROBABLY your source footage (counterstrike records at lower framesizes, probably).
Big tip for Vegas... Scrub (slow) the video down while you're previewing it, and make sure you have the settings on Draf - preview in the preview box/window thingy. Makes it look like crap there, but it generally makes it playback a bit more smoothly.

Hey, no offence was taken. Just wanted to make the opposing viewpoint. I've been using Vegas for over four years and timing is just about the easiest part of the experience.Niotex wrote:well from what i heard jcd say is that vegas has a complexer timeline wich makes it harder to time compared to premiere making me pick premiere over vegas. i still have to check the program for myself though to confirm this so dont take it as a offence
Tono_Fyr makes some good points, and I can add that it's possible in Vegas to turn off all effects during preview, or even turn off individual tracks. Either method can help when placing clips at the right points.

I'm a masochist and have never made an AMV before, so I'm going to do my entire first project in AviSynth.
Pro:
Pro:
- I don't need large lossless sources cluttering up my hard drive - I can rip the VOBs once, and work with them directly.
- No timing issues: AssumeFPS is your friend
- No colorspace issues: all of the functions are in YV12
- Requires a great deal of planning - this project will be a nightmare if I take a directory full of clips and then decide on the theme/song. This is also a pro.
- Would you want to do an entire project in AviSynth?

You can do more or less the same thing with Vegas and Premiere. Sure, you're using d2v files in both cases, but that doesn't make much difference in the end... and good luck with that. Hope you don't go insane.askol wrote: Pro:

but for amvs i wouldn't use anything except for Adobe premiere pro or Windows movie maker.
That's probably the first time I've heard anyone prefer WMM to Vegas. Anyway, The tech guide can help you get the best quality out of your programs.
I haven't said you mustn't break the wall.

Oh and the reason why I don't use Vegas for AMV's is bcse I can't open the animes proparly. The pircture isn't there :SJanzki wrote:That's probably the first time I've heard anyone prefer WMM to Vegas. Anyway, The tech guide can help you get the best quality out of your programs.
