I don't care how short an opinion is as long as it's not an outright flame (which, thankfully, I have yet to receive). A higher op count, to me, is always a nice thing.Tash wrote:Eh its good that quick comment is around. Who wants short opinions anyway.
Why doesn't anybody leave opinions?

Hellz yeah! That's an idea!Sephiroth wrote:post in the video announcement forums if you havent allready, op exchange,
if all else fails do what i did, make a video about lesbians
lol
I understand quick comments are great, I do 'em too. I'm not saying that every single video needs a comment, but if somebody oviously needs improvement on something, or something is so good that you just have to rave about how good it was, then why not leave an opinion?
It shows those of making videos that you appreciate the work that goes into our videos. And it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside! lalalala...
(lmfao!) Anyways, I'm sure you get the idea. It makes us want to make more videos if we know that people really like our work. We become inspired to move on to bigger and better things. And hey, why not give somebody a little inspiration? Lets spread a little niceness. If we're gonna take the time to download something, what could another 2 miutes hurt?
No pressure or anything of course. I'm just sayin'. . .
And this is coming from the point of view of a person who wants to move on to bigger and better things regardless of anyone's opinion. I'm the kind of person who thinks that if I think my video rocks, and it's been downloaded 80 something times without me even advertising it, then I must have a little something going. So go for the gusto and make a vid that deserves to be advertised, which I've yet to do, so don't get excited.
Sorry if this post was too lengthy for you, but this is a passion of mine, so of course I'm going to get a little long winded. My apologies.
Catch ya'll lata.

hmmn weird, although they have slowed down quite a bit, I still get opinions o.0 QCs havent killed them ALL. I've even still gotten short ones.rubyeye wrote:Ever since the 'Quick Comments' function came, people have become just too lazy to expand their impressions beyond, "Hey, That's Cool!" or "Nice One, Keep it Up "
You can't blame people for taking advantage of something that makes any chore even faster to do, like leaving a "review/comment."
Granted I like to read the content (no matter what the length) more than numbers..
either way, the best way to "spread the love" is to op exchange and spread some love of your own...

Opinions arent that "Easy" to write as you say... I only write ops where i feel that the person im opping needs a good constructive feedback... And yes some people just go at it with either 1's or 10's but for that you either gotta piss people off allot or make a "oke" naruto video for the stupid masses... either way you're not gonna get ops if you whine for them... you either gotta earn or need them. Its as simple as that.

If someone needs to improve, and you write a review telling them that, you're giving them negative feedback. It's fine if someone goes to the op exchange and asks for constructive criticism - that's asking for people to tell you what you did wrong and how you can fix it. Most people who host vids and ask for ops don't want to hear negative things. They want praise. They don't want a random "this could be better, and you should have done this, and you really need to practice that more, and the way you compressed that was a waste of 35mbs if you'd only lowered the resolution a little, and did you try cutting those subs with vdub because honestly it only takes a few minutes, and those loud beats there would be neat if something in the footage corresponded to them, and is this your first amv or what' review. Those come off as flames when they come out of nowhere from a random viewer. Sure, they can be useful, but only to people who want criticism.Celest_Eclipse wrote:...if somebody oviously needs improvement on something...then why not leave an opinion?
Every once in a while someone will complain in the forum about the lack of unsolicited constructive criticism in reviews, but the moment they start getting it those same people will be back complaining about the unsolicited 'flames'. You can't even say you don't like a song without the creators writing two-page threads complaining about it. Can you imagine how they'd react if you went into detail about the other things you didn't like in their vids?
I figure if they want constructive feedback in reviews they'll ask for it in the vid description or the op exchange. Everyone else is looking to share with, and maybe get praise from, like-minded viewers. Either way, giving unsolicited reviews is criticising someone who didn't ask for my opinion.

Because I don't owe them anything.
Because I don't see why anyone should care what I think.
Because my knowledge is sorely lacking, so "your Reverse Existentialist Narrative Technique..." is not something I can bust out. I just think "oh hey, that was interesting, I liked that part there."
Opinions are the icing, not the cake. Stop your damn angsting. Yes, you. It's annoying.

lmao.. just commenting on your analogy:SarahtheBoring wrote:Opinions are the icing, not the cake.
when i was a kid I used to lick the icing off the cake and only eat it... I was never much of a cake person... now i eat the cake first and save the icing for later...
Im not sure how this fits in, but i dont think everyone on the site will be satisfied with ammounts, lengths, and types of opinions, qcs, and feedbacks...

Oooh, I'll give you my opinion!
Don't make AMVs for ridiculously overused anime with ridiculously over used music. By the date on your profile, you started making vids well after the rush on Naruto Ball Z vids, so you can't use the "well it was original back when I made it!" excuse.
Do make something refreshing, and follow all of the other advice that people here have been giving you.
