sub
I can understand noobs having subs cuz well they dont know how to remove this so i think we should try to look past it then. But the more exprenced should know better and know how to fix it. But subs can be good if used sparingly and in the approprate time. So dont be too hard on the noobs at 1st we all were noobs at one time.

even if we were all noobs once, some of us had more sense than others (ie, noobs who use downloaded footage/just left subs on with the dvd footage vs noobs who read the guides).
My reasoning is that because in most cases, the original audio isn't used, the subtitles loose any and all value; therefore becoming nothing but a distraction
good example of an exception (imo) is Rock Lee vs Gaara May Cry by PoL4RiZ...not much in the way of editing though (hardly anything), but I actually thought that the subtitles helped (since part of the Japanese dub audio was used)

Yea like i said there are exceptions to the rule like you said. But when i started out making amvs i didnt have a dvd drive or a real powerful machine but i still tried. Im not saying reward the noobs for doing it im saying that the older amv makers should try to give advice and help out the noobs then i think there will be less crapy amvs. But we all had to start somewhere right.

A subtitled AMV on the off-chance can be good, but it's very rare.
I'm sure there are points in time when it can be used to an advantage but I've yet to see it.
No story - well not EVERY AMV has to have a story. I've seen badly done AMV's with a story and well done AMV's without one.
AMV's without a concept is what the worst part is, as inthesto said.

Exactly! I don't understand this hard-core desire some people have with AMVs needing a story or some kind of narrative thread. Where did that come from?Clamp-X wrote:.... There's no need for story in amvs as long as there's a theme or just good beat syncing.
