Shattering

I know how to do shattering. I have several tutorials and can do quite a bit.

What I'm wondering is what people think of the shatter effect in a video?

Is it considered cheesy or only when its done to an exaggerated degree?

I hope to include this effect once in a video but I'm wondering if its a considered a taboo to use it.

Its a good effect if used properly. I personnaly dont like the effect most of the time just because its so random. But in AMV (cant recall the name but its Elfen Lied ~ Prendre racin" ANYWAYS it uses the shattering effect after someone going crazy.

All on the type of video and timing I suppose
