I'm wondering too. I guess the org gets some kind of kickbacks from sending visitors to an advertising portal?
I just figured previous discussions about people putting videos on there sans-credits and claiming them as their own pissed so many people off that the word is now considered taboo.

I always thought it was a jab at the intelligence/typing skills of the users most likely to rely on something like that site or Google video, etc. Especially what with the frequency with videos being plagarized on those sites.

I mean, what kind of big difference does it make if it has the 'e' or not? People still know what site it's talking about, and that would still piss them off. Which is why I defaulted to the idea that it was to intentionally make them look like n00bs with practically 0 typing ability.

You know, I have a thought to any AMV creators that hate You-tube or Google Video.... a more positive and constructive idea than just hating it with an undying loathing...

Why don't you upload your AMVs to a you-tube or google account? Not only would you be saving some of a-m-v.org's bandwith, but you would be getting your videos out to a wider audience.

If it was me, and someone had put my AMV on You-tube or Google Video, I'd feel honored that someone thought my stuff was so awesome that he had to share it with the world. The only way I'd ever be irked off is if the person was trying to pass it as his own work.

Have you considered that we might have our reasons, positive and constructive reasons for avoiding them as we do?

And violating the TOS in both cases. For a low quality version. I put a lot of effort into my videos. I don't want my viewers subject to a pointlessly low quality version.

I'd be annoyed that someone decided to take my work, remove it from its proper context and commentary, publish an inferior version, and generally degrade the entire experience. There's a big difference between a well-compressed 2-pass XviD with 192 VBR MP3 audio and what Youtub or Google Video has to offer. Nevermind the annoyance factor of Flash, or that they're using my work to help someone else make money.

You know what the strongest point of this site is? It's not having so many videos up for download, although that's certainly nice. It's the community. Neither of the services in question have that.

Try Youtube then. They have a lot of AMVs there.
