As creators what do you want...
As amv creators what kind of things do you want in your ops? I have about 210 ops and I have seen probably everything I will ever encounter from this place. However, it just occurred to me that I might not be leaving the most efficient feedback that I can relay to a creator. I am a pretty tough critic so when I say something its not meant to jab at someone personally. Just help them create the best possible video.
Some details I include in my ops are:
- Favorite parts of the video
- Least favorite parts
- The biggest thing "wrong" with the video
- In general comments i leave comments on how to better improve whatever was remarked upon in bad comments
- I've never once outright flamed an amv or its creator

When I leave an opinion normally I break the video down section by section or scene by scene. I comment on how well the scenes flow together and how they went to the lyrics and the music. Usually my reviews as of the past 1 1/2 or so have been about 700-1,500 words. I feel that these reviews give the creators the feedback that they want. I know several creators responded back saying that they never realize something or were thankful and have changed some things in a video that I pointed out. So that's why I do these detail reviews. It is to help the other creators out and I look forward to there responses back to the reviews I leave them knowing that it helped.

There are quite some points that make a good op. The perfect op would be the one I give myself XD. To give an impression of how that might look: A good op should be long (I myself write usually more than 1k words although it depends sometimes), this length will cause the following attributes (at least it should):
1: The op contanis criticism on good and bad parts. Usually some passages should be named where the point of the criticism comes to happen. Another method for this is to just rewatch the video and write the op similiary (stop when a passage ends).
2: One should name personal preferences and (Really improtant) possible solutions of making it better. Advices are nice for the ones who receive it.
3: The writer should have read the video information to extinct possible miss-understandings. There is the need to understand and/or feel the video. If the writer doesn't know the intention of the creator giving a constructive op is difficult.
4: The single ratings should be explained. Just giving scores doesn't help, if the creator doesn't nkow how the writer came to the conclusion that the ratings are justified.
All this is more or less the way I give my ops. Usually the ones who receive them like them, although I tend to sound harsh since I critisize a lot and search for the aspects holding a video away from perfection.

You know it's against site regulations to have multiple accounts, right?
[although nothing is ever done to violaters to make anyone take the rules seriously]

hmm...oh well (goes with the flow)amvwizard wrote:WWWWAAAAYYYY too many threas like this.
When I write ops (typically anywhere from 800-1300 words now...a bit less in my early days) I break the video's assests into the categories scored on and talk about why each was either good or bad. A few times I have given specific examples (with timestamps) but I tend not to.
My longest ops are ones where I tell the person (probably a noob) about different things that I've picked up (tips and tricks if you will).
I'd like to get the same in return (and I do about 1/2 of the time)

specific details about the good parts and bad parts of the video are always nice, but my favorite ops are the ones that tell me personal reactions and emotions of the viewer to the video, whether it's "wow this video really made me feel sad" or "i found this video so boring i couldn't watch the whole thing."

I want specifics - what parts they liked or what about the video made them like it as a whole, and what parts the didn't like or what about the video made them dislike it as a whole. If there's a below 8 score for a technical aspect like capture quality, I want to know what looked off on their computer (unless it's an older vid where I know the quality isn't fine or better than fine). I want the reviewability score explained as well, but that's usually included in the specific likes and dislikes.
If it's an editor whose style I really admire, I like getting breakdowns on why my editing is so inferior and what I should have done to be more like them. Unless it's one of my idols, I don't really want the editing score explained in detail. I prefer too slow, too fast, too simple because I already know what about my editing makes them feel that way.
