Well I didn't want to be bias but you can probably tell from my avatar, username and my sig I'm an Outlaw Star fan.Cornwiggle wrote:Or...Outlaw Star.genestarwind21122 wrote:For out of all of those 10,000 Naruto amv's only a handful of them are good. I can think of maybe 5 good ones off the top of my head. Naruto is just a popular series. I have to say that I like it but I'm not saying it is the best thing out there. Personally there are much better animes out there to watch. Naruto is a fun series to watch but personally Bleach, My Hime as newer series go are better oh and I can't forget about Belldandy. (Ah! My Goddess TV Series)

Outlaw Star IMO is the best. Wait.. why even say IMO.. It's a fact so trying to state it as just my opinion is pointless. It beats the hell out of Naruto. Naruto promotes gay sex and a bad use of the english language..genestarwind21122 wrote:Personally there are much better animes out there to watch.

I think it's natural for Naruto to surpass dbz as quickly as possible now that it's hit the states. It appeals to a much wider audience (notably female viewers). The animation is a thousand times better (newer anime) so it's cleaner amv fodder. And it's hot right now. Amv editing is getting easier (more accessible) by the day so the hot anime get an automatic boost compared to older series that came to amv format right when amvs were starting themselves on difficult contrived two-vcr-method setups. We predicted Naruto would surpass dbz when the first amvs started popping up all over the place (about the same time as bittorrent really kicked off).
I'm surprised Naruto hasn't left dbz in the dust a lot quicker. Actually, there have been a lot of 'hot' anime recently that should be helping to make people forget dbz was once the 'most overused anime' for vidding purposes. If the main characters in Bleach were just a few years younger, it would probably give Naruto a run for that top spot. And we know filler is never a problem for hardcore fans. The Inuyasha fangirls let themselves be jerked along for years on subplots that recycled every five episodes. It makes SailorMoon's new villain per episode repetition look original. And yet the fans keep loving it and the amv editors (especially the females) keep using it. Naruto at least has a huge mess of minor characters for vidders to focus on. Even with the One Piece styled filler arcs, Naruto will never run out of substories to interest anyone who's looking to make a video in a few hours. With such a 'usable' anime, it's only natural that the good editors who pick it up can churn out wildly popular videos.
I'm still wary of the growing Fullmetal Panic craze, but I think it's way too short to compete against a long series that had tons of fans after the very first mini-arc. Naruto should hold the top spot for quite a while, at least until a new anime pops up with hundreds of episodes featuring reasonable looking young kids, slapstick, and 'cool' action. A Harry Potter styled anime series with Inuyasha styled extended arcs would probably be lapped right up by today's anime fans. If they love it, naturally there will be tons of amvs to express that obsession.
