Question on DVD'S????

I've been making AMV's for a very short time now, a few including Advent Children and Gundam Wing Endless Waltz. But those videos I downloaded off of Limewire, now that I'm really getting into AMV's I would like to make an Outlaw Star AMV but this time I want to use my DVD's instead of downloading every single episode offline. So my question is how do I save the episodes to my computer or transfer them to my Windows Movie Maker? The computer I use is a recently purchased Sony Vaio. Any suggestion would help, thanks.
