Confused - where would u draw the line

Post by tardini » Sun Nov 19, 2006 9:36 am

ill go straight to the point, there is a thread here in the forum that asks to how many contests would u send ur video to and there is another thread that talks a bout a series of animations named "amazing nutz" i checked this amazing nuts thing and realize that its about an animation that looks quite different from the rest and its obviously the work of a really good professional or a group of them.

so my question is how should one feel ...lol if he entered a video using this kind of anime to a contest and won, i mean where is the pride, no matter what u do in the video some other professional with a lot of experience has already handed it to you with ease.
i know this might sound wrong like saying that only bad animation should be used, but certain incredible animations just dont feel right to rip off for me, dunno.

perhaps im taking it to seriously and should just ignore this fact and keep enjoying the hobby, right?

im curious what other say about this. plz post

when entering a AMV contest, your entering your video and all the editing you did, not the anime itself. its not like everyone enters and goes "ya thats right I drew this AND edited it ;)"

all depends on what ur trying to take the for, the anime or the video?

last I recall, you can take the dumbest anime and make a video and take the best artistic wise and come out with crap.

Hm, this makes a good point. But yeah, in the end, it's the editing that counts i think. If u edited it well, then i don't care if u used Bleach or Chibi Maruko-Chan (worst anime ever, lol). If i like it, i like it.
but on the other hand, nice animation is prettier ... :?

It doesn't matter, this is the org. You could give most editors the work of Michelangelo and still get back something that looks worse than a disfunctional 4 year olds scribblings stuck on a fridge by a proud, but disillusioned, parent.

What about art from the 5-18 year old who have seizures?

True. FF VII: AC is one of the most fantasticall animated movies I've seen, and there are enough horrible videos out there to make your eyes bleed.

This is actually a doule-edged knife. If the animation is really good, and the editing too, then they sum up to a wonderful visual pleasure. But if the animation ios good and the editing sucks, I go "what the hell this idiot completely ruined a beautiful anime"

Crappily drawn anime can give great results. Hell, black lines on a white blackground can give great results. Look at this, for example:

And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

I think the OP was asking about entereing M@Ds into AMV contests... since they're slightly different things and all. (At least that's how I took it ::shrug::)
Anime Boston Fan Creations Coordinator (2019-2023)
Anime Boston Fan Creations Staff (2016-2018)
