this sounds interesting... O.o i might check out your vid when i get home O.o
conflicting feedback is TONS of fun... XD when you get conflicting feedback that just means that some people will like what you did and others wont like what you did... i get that stuff all the time, and best i can say is that it ammuses me XD...
what it comes down to is you have do decide what YOU like... and what YOU dont like O.o and for the "masses" that dont like it then oh well....
your taste may change over time and you might end up looking back at your older work thinking "wtf was i thinking?!?!?! thats total crap id so do it totally differently today >.<" (though i usually remember what i was actually thinking and what was going through my head)
either way when it comes to things like "video quality" or "audio quality" yea listen to all the feedback you can get because those things can ultimately help you in the end...
but when it comes to artistic composition (what effects to use, when to cut scenes, what beats to sync) you gotta make that decision on your own and do what you like... take that kind of advice with a grain of salt, cause thats your decision and not anyone elses... listen to the opinions on that sort of stuff and decide if you agree with their position or not is the best i can say.
ps as for the BS DBZ reference... i saw a video that was "The Cure" and DBZ, this combination seemed so off i had to check it out... and ammusingly enough they did a pretty good job for it... of course it was a romance video and not an action video.
and BS DBZ sounds pretty entertaining, just like celine dion / DBZ

Thanks for the opinions and encouragement, guys. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist, and I hate hate HATE it when things don't turn out right.
As for my upcoming project, I'm thinking "All About Us" by t.a.T.u. and Chobits. The anime isn't quite fast-paced, but I think I can make it work. I hope I can make it work. The theme of the song just feels right with that anime.
Conflicting reviews kind of confuse me. I don't know whether to believe the good or the bad, lol. But I guess the thing is to take reviews with a grain of salt and all that jazz. I'm going to be working on gathering clips in the next couple of days from the DVDs and see where that takes me.
Thanks again to everyone who replied. I really appreciate the input.

well seriously in the end all that matters is that you like your vid... if other people like it too then more power to your work...
but even the "top videos" on this site get negative feedback as well, just remember that, alot of it has to do with what someone's personal taste is.
where one person may think an effect is awesome, another person might think its crap or cliche... thats just how people are... what matters most is if you like the effect you used there.

as one of your reviewers that didn't get the combination let me make this clear
see that's the thing, you shouldn't HAVE to put alot of thought into it. Cuz if YOU put alot of thought into it than your audiance would likeley have to put equal amount of thought into it and... I have a headache. Like aesling said, it just takes experience. SOMETIMES those thoughtfull and DRAWN OUT experiences are appreciated, sometimes it's the amvs made in a weekend that get all the praise. It's a real crapshoot, but that's what makes this hobby so fun -_-.graydaze wrote:kris: Well... Have you watched the AMV? I had other people compliment me on choosing that song for the anime I used. So, it's a little confusing. I put a lot of thought into which anime and song combo to use, so,... I'm not sure what to think.

That would be great. Any in particular you'd like me to look at? I probably won't get to review it for at least a day, but if you're willing, I'd like to get some more opinions.JaddziaDax wrote: ps. i just realized that i dled your video before, i thought it looked familiar XD
