Constructive criticism. Criticism that is not taken offensively, but rather is used to help you improve by learning what you should or shouldn't do on your next project. So in a way, even though they say "oh, you did this wrong", you take it technically as a compliment because it helps you improve on future projects.

This can be extremely useful for learning how to make AMVs that appeal to more people.

Artists do this too, they actually encourage criticism so that they can improve on their next project. I didn't believe this until my art teacher told me, he's an inker for DC comics, and it is extremely useful.

er... I think some people are missing the point here... The OP was talking about someone fucking up in their complaining to a degree where their mistake was flattering. Other than the example the OP gave, I can't think of many other situations where that would be likely to occur - perhaps if you make your own edit of a song and someone bitches about you using a radio edit or something.

I got good criticism from my very first amv 'teachers':

God bless their souls... ^_^

As far as screwing up a critique goes, I've never had that happen to me in the way Bashar describes.
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

It's been my experience that people not pointing out something I could have done better is the most aggravating, as one reason I post is to find out what I can do better next time. Even if I review a very good video I attempt to suggest one thing that the person can do next time, even if it's a really excellent video all around.
