I have such a large anime collection, that I really can't get tired of my source footage. I don't think there has ever been a time where I just got tired of editing because I got tired of the song or anime. For me when editing I choose a song I know I willn't be tired of after listening to it for 2 or 3 months. The anime while I'm editing I'm remembering what was going on at that point in the show or "oh I forgot that was there" type of moment.
The reason I had a seven year gap was I burned myself out of editing. I was trying too hard to make my next video and pushed myself to do stuff for contests. After being a contest coordinator for years, I wanted to get back into editing. I remembered why I started doing this. It is to have fun, and to make videos to share with everybody.

Re: How much do you enjoy your sources?
It's easier for me to edit to something I like. For example editing with Elfendlied was a pain in the butt.
If I have a concept and want to have specific scenes I focus more on the AMV but generally use Animes I enjoy and would enjoy seeing in an AMV.
Once I edited with something my attitude towards it does not change.
Another point I think falls into this discussion is that some Animes are just so overused or plainly make editing too easy - so I generally try to skip those.
Regarding Music - I cannot - CAN NOT - edit to something I do not like. Everything I edit with I like a lot.. really much. (Yes also the Yodelmusic in my BDay AMVs)
