What are you even talking about. It's not an assumption. He already confirmed this is the direction the channel is taking. I guess you only know what you've read here.SheeGee wrote:Again that is all just a assumption. He could try making the money off an AMV or he won't. Will he take the risk of making money off an AMV? Maybe, maybe not. He was vague about everything in the chat log, regardless of if the editor consented to letting him upload.
Maybe like he said in the chat log that he'll only make money off videos of his own creation and not the actual AMVs themselves. There's too many things left in the dark. And if he already took down a video of yours, it's not really your business anymore. And like I said, all these maybes are not enough to really get riled up over.
I won't make a final outcry until I see a lawsuit put into place by a musical artist or a studio against him.

Yes. This is based off the chat log and the original post. Based on the chat, if he could make money off an amv consented by the editor he will, but AMVs in general are not monetized due to copyright. He also said in the chat that money will be made off of other content ie anime reviews, figurine reviews, etc.
I apologize that I am not more aware of private conversations between the editors and AU. Those conversations are not my business nor have they been made public with the consent of both parties, so I will not be using those to form any argument on the situation.

Personally, I'd rather take steps to avoid a lawsuit altogether rather than taking a chance on a re-uploader channel's unclear monetization practices. Especially since all that is involved is sending them a message asking to have the videos removed. They seem to be complying.SheeGee wrote:I won't make a final outcry until I see a lawsuit put into place by a musical artist or a studio against him.

and I thought it was a matter of time before this starts becoming a huge problem, hopefully it comes to a closure and they understand what they are doing wrong.

I asked him to confirm or deny accusations of him monetizing his channel and he requested a private skype chat to discuss the nature of the channel. Refusing to answer the question was as good as an admittance imo. I called him on it and he basically told me to bugger off. At least he took my stuff down. But what a twat.

Sent him a message and he took down all my stuff.
Never got a message back saying he did. Oh well.

Another thing to say is the fact his subscriber base came from the videos he is now taking down in favour of monetising everything. At this point he could delete almost all the videos, and start reuploading only the ones he can gain money off because the subscriber base is there.Rider4Z wrote:I asked him to confirm or deny accusations of him monetizing his channel and he requested a private skype chat to discuss the nature of the channel. Maybe that was just the long term plan all along. .

As someone who has also had a lengthy conversation with him (I was in a large Skype chat with many others) I can confirm that even if English isn't his first language, he speaks it proficiently enough to know exactly what is going on.seasons wrote:OR maybe his/her 1st language isn't English, who knows?CrackTheSky wrote:That's pretty much the vibe I got from the whole exchange as well :/
