I find it kinda hard to believe when people say that downloading footage from KaZaA is illegal when DVD ripping is illegal. (shakes head) Some people... anyways, my suggestion is if you're going to use footage from KaZaA, clean it up as best as you can and try to avoid footage from logos. For cleanup I would try using VirtualDub. Also, if you can, try and save up the money for the DVD's. It'll really be worth it in the end. I suggest you use AbsoluteDestiny & ErMaC's Technical Guides to All Things Audio and Video. Best of luck with your AMV ^^

However, DVD ripping is illegal because of an absolutely inane provision of a horrifically abused law. If you own the DVDs you should be able to do whatever you want with them. Not true with KaZaA.Fungie½ wrote:I find it kinda hard to believe when people say that downloading footage from KaZaA is illegal when DVD ripping is illegal.

Actually, he can.Saeth1 wrote:when DVD ripping is illegal.
no its not, giving somebody else the ripped footage (even in AMV form) is illegal
you can rip dvds all day long right in front of an fbi agent and laugh in his face but he cant do anything until you let somebody else see it
If the DVD is encrypted, then you'll probably have to decrypt it.
If you have to decrypt it, then you'll have a few methods at your disposal.
If you have a few methods at your disposal, then those methods will probably vary in their ... methodology.
Doesn't matter, though.
DVD ripping is still entirely illegal in the U.S. because you're "circumventing a technological measure that effectively controls access to a work".
Yes, it's an extremely retarded law.
