Just because it re-interperts the anime doesn't make it bad. In fact in my eyes that makes it more commendable. Afterall you are using non original artwork and music, new plotlines/relationships is a way to make it more your own creation. In one of my favorite eva videos rei kills auska for interfearing between her and shinji (this is also done without lyric synch of any kind.) This makes the video a lot more interesting and artistic than your typical evas kicking everyone's but video. Again just my oppinion.
