I made fliftyteen. I got worse with each one. I learned nothing from my experience. My vids are now resorting to abstractly bizarre test patterns involving drugs. I have to have the company of a female autoerotically asphixiating herself for inspiration. I've fallen into a fucking sullen mire from which there is no escape, even in death. I spend my days in a drunken haze, watching the 2nd half of The Cell on a constant loop. There's a broken-legged collie at my door every night scratching and yelping in pitiful shrieks for some semblence of acknowledgement that he exists. I hold the pillow over my ears and hum Beethoven's 9th to drown him out. In short, I think AMVs are a waste of time and creativity. Would I do it all again? Sure. Why not?

Too many to count, or NOYB. ^_^;
I think I noticed the improvement about halfway through my current vids - some 5 months after I started. That was when I realized I could watch one of my first set of vids and imagine they were made by two different editors. That was good in some ways, especially technical, but bad for the idea of it - I'd started to twist my style to match what I was seeing around me.
One of the things I like best about my first vids was that I did them on lyric sync, the sound of the words as part of the music - rather than beat sync alone. That's something I'll never get back. I tried repeatedly, but I still default to what others expect of 'editing' to music, as if the instruments are the only sounds you hear.
On the other hand my improved technical skills (really just me discovering new tricks with each vid) have opened a few doors for me. I can create scenes now. That's something I never thought I'd be able to do. I've also gotten much better at changing footage to match my imagination - another great improvement.
At this point the only thing I really feel like I'm lacking is my old 'freedom' to edit the way I hear the music (the sound of the words first, the instruments second) - and time.

*shrugs* 10+
Do i think ive gotten better.. from my first vid to my latest it is an improvement, but my origionality and creativity when creating an amv is pretty poor, same old transitions, same old drum sync, well when I make this Kataklysm vid I wont be able to sync the drum, its too damn fast
With this BloodDuster amv I have been screwing around with Premiere quite a bit and have found some kewl effects, but in the long run, Im no fan of effects and I would rather stay the old fasion way and keep sync'ing the music and lyrics with the anime/s.

I have made 9 that I consider amvs. As far as quality I really improved when comparing that first one to some of the later videos. As far as story, I think I have actually lost some of that at least up to my second to last video. The last one might bring me back up on story again. I'm still learning though so I many more improvements left to go.
