DO
whatever you want, but
DON'T
expect a good reaction.
That's my opinion.
The problem arises when people make hackneyed videos and then expect to be worshipped for them. That is stupid. If you know you're making something tacky, own up to it. "Yeah, I know it's unoriginal, but I wanted to make a Linkin Park video anyway." I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Unoriginal, but mature.

Re: too many redos
I think I might have already seen that one (unless I'm confusing it with something else done with WDStF). But I'll check it out anyway.Kaji01 wrote:MetalWolf did a pretty decent one to "We Didn't Start the Fire", see if I can't dig that up real quick...Cyanna wrote:That is one opinion I can't argue with.RiderX wrote: DO
Billy Joel songs
Yeah. I admit I'm a fan of his music.

I quite agree with the no-rap suggestion, but that's mainly a personal preference issue. I can't stand that noise.
But I don't see the problem with usuing a popular song repeatedly. I download a lot of vids done to my favorite songs, and I like them a whole lot! I think a good song, no matter how over-used it is, can really help make an AMV--provided a person can edit it right!

I find it almost alarming how little good movie themes are used. Granted, the movies are usually semi-obscure, but there are some awesome songs out there that haven't been used because either the band and/or the movie didn't get any decent amount of exposure.
I've seen this applies espcially to animated movies (not necessarily to Disney films). I've found a number of underused songs from animated movies.
DO:
Use songs off the radio that you like
DON'T:
expect them to never have been used before (but I've been surprised on more than one occasion)

As long as ppl are typing up some DOs and DON'Ts. I'd like to rant a bit..
DON'T
Put only an hour's worth of work into a vid, using a free prog like WMM with meager capabilities.
Use any GODDAMNED FAN-SUBBED LOW-RES BULLSHIT RE-COMPRESSED INTO WMV FORMAT!!!! ....plz.
Repeat yourself or others. Unless you really want to do THAT vid to THAT song. Still, try your best to remain original.
Call others 'noobs' in an offensive manner. Everyone starts somewhere.
DO
Buy an anime series on DVD. Help make the company ACTUAL money instead of ripping them ALL off using P2P.
READ THE GUIDES JUST ONCE WILL YA?!! ...plz.
Learn about digital video, what makes it good, and what makes it suck.
Produce a video in a decent clarity. (even if it IS sucky editing, I want to be able to SEE it sucking)
Leave OPs, without going into the forums begging for OPs. If a vid is good, the creator deserves a few minutes of your time for you to leave an OP. (if the vid IS good, the creator likely spent a long time on it and delivered their best efforts, It'll take you less time to leave an OP)
I hope you all appreciate my insight, if not, then you are obviously unwothy of it.
