Ok, lets try it this way then. What makes an AMV bad?

Technical errors annoy me... as do subtitles, logos, lip flapping, absence of a solid concept, sync that is off by a few frames throughout a video, and repetitive flashes of white or black.

One little thing that gets me is when one frame from the pervious/subsequent scene makes it in to the video right before or after the scene that was intended to be put in.

Mindless and random action shots haphazardly sych'ed.

That, and haphazard timing in general. Either time it well, or time it poorly, but don't do both in the same video!

When someone who has no business making AMV decides to make 'em.

When scenes are recycled - not because the creator is trying to pull off something stylistic, but because he's lazy.

When the video looks like it's just been thrown together like a tossed salad, complete with a couple of gratuitous live-action shots.

If fact, just yesterday I downloaded an AMV that meets those criteria, and some criteria you guys have already mentioned.

Okay, this one I have to argue you on. As Scintilla (I think) wrote, it may look really awkward at times to not have the characters talking. What if two characters are staring right at each other or something. It would look really stupid if they just blankly stared at each other for the whole scene. Sometimes some good old fashioned lip flap can do quite nicely. Heh.

Other than that, I think you should judge videos on a video-by-video basis instead of all videos as a whole. Not all videos are bad for the same reason, and some are good because of why other ones are bad. I dunno, I just think targeting all videos is a little...harsh.

The editor and his/her/its' lack of good intentions.'

In technical terms, I can literally see anything working, in proper context.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
