In some cases, there is not much of a choice in the quality we can work with. I primarily make AMVs using footage from Rockman.exe, where unless you can afford to buy all the Japanese DVDs at $50 a pop, you have to work with raw japanese tv encodes. Yes, there is a dub version that was released over here, but it was heavily edited with scenes missing, and sometimes entire episodes.

This is why that the fact that some AMV contests these days are all "YOU MUST USE DVD QUALITY FOOTAGE OR YOUR DISQUALIFIED" is getting rather grating. I've seen plenty of AMVs with watchable quality video, that don't meet up to the standards of some current day rules in the contests.

I've always thought quality mattered the most in FX vids. :\

Then again, sometimes it's better to have bad quality so you can cover up the mistakes :)

Like I said before.
Some of the greatest videos I've seen didn't have the best quality, so I don't bitch about it.
Why do people make such a big deal about these things. I don't get mad when they create new video games that look 10 years old, and GBA is one of my favorite systems. That's like trying to listen to a certain type of music you've never heard before, and then deciding it's bad after hearing ten seconds of it.

If you need certain examples of great vids with Bad V quality, check out this profile. Some of his videos are very high ranked and most have horrible Visual quality.
