Yes, Movie Maker works. I'm going to repeat what a lot of people have said, it's easy to use and is great to learn on. But once you know what you are doing and want to do more advanced videos, I would suggest getting something else. Movie maker only will do simple effects. (I have movie Maker right now, and i'm getting seriously annoyed. But it was great when I put out my 1st couple videos.) I've never had mine crash, but I also have bunches of protective software and stuff on my computer. It will freeze up for about 30 seconds and I'll get a virus scan box, but then it'll go away and I can continue. But yeah, as someone said before, don't take your source material off the computer until you are 100% sure you are done w/ it b/c it won't let you resave it to your computer (whether it be saving it in a different format, or modifying and resaving.) unless all the source documents are still in the same place and completely unchanged. (I tried putting the files on a data DVD, then putting it back on my computer in the same place it was before, but it didn't like that.) And save frequently. But other than that, it works. :D Have fun and good luck!

Never used Windows Movie Maker. I started with Premiere 6.0, and still use it.

People find it odd that I had no clue how to use Movie Maker or Paint, but I can use Premiere and Photoshop. o__O

I used that program to make my first AMV, it was pretty decent.

I made all mine using WMM and WMM2. It works ok, put in plenty of memory to help against crashes, also turn off your anti-virus while working with it seems to help. If you have hard drive space, have it output to DV format instead of WMV and convert it to divx with some of the suggested free programs (check the how to files on the org).
I made all my amv's before I found this site and the great help they have available. I had fun making them even if they could have been better if I had known of the help available here. WMM2 is a great program, for the money.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?
