FF 8 videos, small rant

Video: Quistis walks in. Quistis shoots giant robospiders. Squall sees Quistis for like 2 frames in the ending FMV. And if you use the one that plays in the credits, Quistis... walks around and stuff.

Kusoyaro- So would I. Fujin was awesome and had more expression in her one-word lines than half the main party.

Pink_Floyd, like everyone else said, most of the FMVs in that game are Squall and Rinoa. It's almost impossible to make a video of any substantial length without either of them in it. However, you might like this video a bit more, as it focuses on the romance between Laguna and Raine, as well as that of Squall and Rinoa: All We Have Is Now

Also, unlike many other FF8 videos, it omits the Squall and Rinoa dance scene, as well as the Squall vs. Seifer fight at the beginning.

The two seconds of Rinoa in her ball dress are from the end, where Squall is seeing all those images in Time Compression.

It is still straight-up romance though, but at least it does try to give two other characters some screen time.

It's a matter of screen time. If you pull the cutscenes off the discs and watch them, most of the footage is either the two of them, random things like planes taking off, or stuff blowing up. The other characters don't really have much to work with. A little, so it CAN be done, but it easily explains why most people don't attempt it.

You see all the other people a lot in the game, so you'd assume that it would be easy, but really...no. People are just working with whatever footage they have. They're not making Squall/Rin videos to piss you off, honest.

Well, being someone that almost exlcusivly makes FF videos, I'd like to comment on this if I can.

I know how frustrating it can be, to come up with something original in an FF video, especially where FF8 is concerned (for the reasons already stated). And I admit, most people go for the obvious when FF is concerned: FF8 - romance. FF9 - being alone, and determination. FF10/2 - giving something up, or enjoying what you have. You see the same ideas over and over again.

However, that doesn't mean that all the videos coming out now (or in the past little while) are definitly all the same. As I always tell myself, there are tons of things that can be done with FF that haven't been done before. All you need to do, is think of them, and try to create your vision.

As Ultima will tell you (who has seem some of my stuff I believe), there's a great deal that can be done with the FF series. All you need is the right idea, and a creative mind to relaise it

As someone who's only made FF8 vids so far, I completely agree that it's overdone. While all three of my vids fairly well suck (although some sad soul seems to have put my most recent one on their favorite videos list according to a google search for it) my second one isn't a sappy love story--the entire vid is Squall stuck in time compression, and Rinoa not finding and saving him.

Completely aside, I've been working on a FF8-Simple and Clean vid starting just a few days ago, but it's so NOT working for the same reasons 98% of FF8 vids don't work. I'm seriously not sure whether to go on to my next idea (my first ps2 game vid, the joy of ripping THOSE files) or to stick it out and finish this one.

...Just wanna say that I got curious and d/l'd "Why? Can't? I?" and absolutely love it. Definitely more deserving of a favorite vids list than mine are. :p
