Lol, I didn't know you live in PG. You're right, anime's really not that popular there. I moved from PG to Vancouver and it seems like everyone here (or at least, everyone at my college) is into anime. UNBC has an anime club, but that's the only anime-related thing I can think of in PG. Silver_moon goes to UNBC, but she's not even a part of the anime club.*inverse* wrote:x2jubjub2 wrote:I love the process of making the vid, then watching it repeatedly like Infinity thinking, "hey, I made that"!
I don't know anyone else who edits AMVs besides my sisters. While anime is widely available here in PG, it's not that popular, so it makes me feel what I'm doing is unique.
For me, my favourite part of making AMVs is being able to use songs you love, and be able to make something visual out of them: it could be a moving story, something fun, or something that has action that really makes you feel the beat and energy in the song. It's the funnest thing. To be honest, I only choose anime to set to the songs because I think it's what works best. Live action movies aren't visually as exaggerated as anime, so I believe it's more difficult to get a message across in a music video using it.
Plus, I love being able to create something that I love to watch and that other people hopefully love to watch too.
...But in the end, I think I mostly do this for the fanmail.

Is that club called "Otaku North"? I haven't heard much about it, so didn't know it was still going.Sierra Lorna wrote:UNBC has an anime club, but that's the only anime-related thing I can think of in PG. Silver_moon goes to UNBC, but she's not even a part of the anime club.
(I go to CNC, and as far as I know, there isn't an anime club there)
I forgot about that - fanmail is funSierra Lorna wrote:...But in the end, I think I mostly do this for the fanmail.

Watching the result, x whatever we're up to now. I really don't care how things go over with the public as long as they are fun to work on and entertain me.
It doesn't take up space. Apart from the DVDs, which are pretty small. The DVD rack is half as big as my (pitifully small) bookcase and about a third as big as my fabric stash. Space is at a premium.
I always entertained myself on car trips by imagining things to music, when I was a kid. It's in my head anyway; I may as well play with it a little.
It's quirky. I like that. I mean, thousands of people do it, but I'm the only one I know, and it's fun to try new things.
It's something to do when it's too late to make noise, but the coffee hasn't worn off yet.
And... well, I've done fanfiction and cosplay already, so I may as well try for the ubernerd trifecta.

Back on topic, I;m in the same boat as some of the others early on in the thread, I just like to see the result. I actually hate the editing part... most of the time.
