Seriously!
Drink lots of water. I also like to watch my favorite amvs without sound.
Live in warm weather too!

Really, just getting out of the game (out of editing, I mean) for a while helps me get more motivated when I'm in a rut.

Heh actually that's the part that makes me the least motivated especially going through more than 3 dvds worth of footage.

As others said, take your time and stop when you need to. If you are going to do another project in between then make sure you have enough harddrive space. It's quite annoying when you don't want to scrap the first project but want to work with other footage and the computer starts crapping on you.

If all else fails sit back and watch your old videos.

I've started on projects and then put them down. I have about 5 unfinished amv's. I actually just looked at one recently that I was working on over a year and a half ago and said well since my editing has improved this may not be a bad one to go back to and start on it all over again. At the time I lost intrest and now watching it I know I could make it into an amv I like. So if you get the feeling that it is not working out put it down for a few days. Watch your own beta. Watch amv's that have inspired you or amv's from your favorite creator. If all else fails put away the video and come back to it a few months later or if you stumble across it again you may say "Hey I think I may want to complete that video I had the right idea and I want to do it now."

So this is normal to happened. However don't give up on it to soon or else you may be doing this with all of your amv's when you run into a road block or get stumped.

Motivation usually isnt my problem... my problem is that my project files currupt themselves when i try to make a decent video... so everyone only sees my crappy vids...

you wanna get motivated? stay offline for a while, cut off your friends and family and sit with your program open until you feel like editing... or you might get motivated from hearing the roar of a crowd... go to a consert, and when you hear people cheering for the band... think *you know, if i make an awsome video, at (insert con) i might get this reaction*... of you could always just edit without motivation...

Oh, so that's the reason for your avatar.

I use avoidance as a motivation tactic. For instance, if I avoid editing, then I'll fill my time with a movie, or a video game. When the movie is done, or I get pissed at the game, I avoid it and go back to editing... It kinda works.

I have that same problem as well.

On topic: Well, to stay motivated to finish a project. Make sure the idea isnt something you'll get sick of doing in a few days (that happened to me a few times :? ).

If you don't feel motivated to do a video at all, then just watch alot of good AMV's (that does it for me :D). Or just listen to alot of music. :)

Also if you don't feel motivated because of pros, jerks and idiots getting on you for your vids, ignore them; but if the pros give you constructive critism, listen. But remember, it's their opinion. You had fun doing the vid, right? :)

That's my two cents on this. Hope this helps. :)
