i personally always think of Dynasty Warriors Lu Bu or Samurai Warriors Keji but as far as Anime goes;

theres a big brute in Ninja Scroll (Movie)
two big guys in Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

man i was gonna say armstrong but eh how about.... vash the stampede?? he's all playfull and clumsy but can be a realll badass lol and maybe kenshin but kenshin is kinda used alot

Kurapica from Hunter x Hunter.

He is very badass and is a tough guy in the later part of the series and the first OVA series.

good animes with badass characters would be the Karas film series among others
